Accessing Reminders from the Today View

In this lesson for Reminders on the iPhone we look at how we can access our Reminders from the Today view on the iPhone.

What is the Today View
Before we get started, I’ll first go over what the Today view is. With the Today view, we can see what is going on today with the apps on your iPhone. As an example, you can see today’s events in your Calendar, you can see what today’s news is in the News app, or you could see how the stocks you are watching in the Stocks app are doing. In addition, you can also add your reminders to this view.

Accessing the Today View on your iPhone
To access the Today view, you need to first access your Notification Center. Once you are in your Notification Center, you just swipe over to the right to see your Today View. The different information displayed is grouped into widgets. So all the news is in the News widget, events are in the Calendar widget. What we need to do is add the Reminders widget to this view.

Adding Reminders to the Today View
To add your reminders to the Today view, you need to add the Reminders widget. To add this widget, you scroll to the bottom of the Today view. At the bottom you’ll see Edit. Tap on edit and you’ll be able to add, delete, and reorder the widgets that are displays. If Reminders is not added to the Today view, just tap on the green plus to the left of Reminders. When you do that, it will add the Reminders widget to the Today view. You can also set where it is in the Today view by dragging the three horizontal lines to the left of the widgets. Tap on Done in the upper right corner when you are finished.

Viewing Reminders in the Today View
When you are viewing your Reminders in the Today view, you’ll see Reminders that are due today or that are past due. Tap on any reminder in this list to open it up in the Reminders app.
