Adding Links to a Stickies Note

In this lesson for Stickies on the Mac we look at how we add links to a note in Stickies.

Adding a Link to a Note in Stickies
To add a link, the first thing you need to do is select the text you want to add the link to. As an example, if I have test in a Sticky note that says ‘Tutor for Camera’ and I want to make that link to a web page, I first need to type the text and then select it.

If you are lining it to an existing web page, what I find easiest is to copy the URL for the web page you want to link to. You do not have to do this, but I find it easier. So if I was going to link that text I selected to a tutorial on my site, I’d open Safari and go to that web page and copy the URL.

Now you go back to the Stickies app and make sure that the text is still selected in my note. Now go the menu bar and click on ‘Edit’. You’ll see ‘Add Link’. Select it and you will get a drop down for Link Destination. Now you can type in the url, or in my case I would paste the url I copied from Safari. Click on OK when you are finished. The drop down will disappear and your text will now include your link.

Editing a Link in a Note in Stickies
To edit a link, maybe you want to change where it is linked to, you need to select the text again in your Stickies note. Then go back to the menu bar and click on ‘Edit’. Again, you go to ‘Add Link’. Even though you are editing the link, you still need to select ‘Add Link’. When you do this, the dropdown will show again with your url. Now you can go edit the link or even remove it by clicking on ‘Remove Link’.
