Lookup Options and Speaking a Selection

In this lesson for the Books app on the Mac, I look at the lookup options the Books app has including looking up definitions and Siri Knowledge. I also take a show you how you have have the Books app speak your selected text.

Lookup Options
To look up the definition of a word, you just double-click on it. When you do this, a popup will show the definition of the word. At the bottom of this popup panel will be other lookup options. These options will change depending on what word you have selected. Options include Siri Knowledge, maps, TV Shows, Music, and more. Again, these options will vary depending on what word you have selected. You can also control-click on the word to see your lookup options.

Speaking a Selection of Words
To have the Books app speak your selection, you first select what you want to have spoken. Then you control-click on the selection and under More in the menu that pops up will be ‘Start Speaking.’ Select this to have the Books app select your selected text.
