Battery Usage Statistics

In this lesson for What’s New in iOS 12 on the iPad, we look at the battery usage statistics we have on the iPad including how we can see what apps were using our battery at a specific time or on a specific day.

Accessing Battery Usage
To view your battery usage on your iPad, you need to open the Settings app. Scroll down until you see Battery. When you tap on Battery, you will see a couple of charts and statistics for which apps were using your battery in the last 24 hours or the last 10 days.

Battery Usage Charts
There are two charts available. These charts show the battery level of your iPad by hour over the last 24 hours or the battery level of your iPad by day over the last 10 days. You can tap on any one of the hours or days to see which apps were using your battery during that time period. The apps will be listed below the two charts.

Screen On and Screen Off
Depending on what you have selected above, you can see the total screen time your iPad was on or off.

Battery Usage by App
Below the Screen On and Off statistic is a list of apps that have been using your battery during the selected time period above. Next to each app you can see the activity percentage the app used during that time.

Battery Usage by Activity
You can also see the battery usage by activity by tapping on Show Activity. With this view, you can see how much time each app has been used including background activity.
