What’s New in Safari

In this lesson for What’s New in iOS 12 on the iPad, we look at what’s new in the Safari app on the iPhone with iOS 12 including where Apple moved the Autofill Password option and how to show icons in tabs.

Autofill Passwords
Apple moved where the setting is for Autofill Passwords. This used to be located in Safari Settings on the iPad, but now that the option works for apps too, so they moved the setting from Safari Settings to the Passwords & Accounts settings. When this is enabled, your iPad will remember passwords and accounts for websites as well as apps that support this feature.

Show Icons in Tabs
When you are looking at your open web pages in tabs on the iPad, you can now show the website icon to the left of the website name. To turn this features on, you need to go to Settings>Safari. You’ll see an option for Show Icons in Tabs. Then tap on the ‘+’ when in Safari to open a new tab. To the left of the website name in the tab will be the website’s icon.
