Setting Good Sleep Habits with Bedtime

In this lesson for the Clock app on the iPhone we look at the Bedtime feature. With the Bedtime feature, your iPhone will alert you when you should go to bed and wake you with a gentle alarm based on how many hours of sleep you want a night.

Setting Bedtime Up
When you tap on Get Started, the first thing you need to set is what time you want to wake up. Bedtime will then ask you what days of the week you want to use this feature, so if you wanted to sleep in on a day, let’s say Sunday, you would deflect that day. Tap on next and now you tell Bedtime how many hours of sleep you need. Now the Bedtime feature knows about what time to alert you or remind you to go to bed based on what time you want to wake up and how many hours of sleep you need. You then set how early you want that alert, 15 minutes before you go to bed or maybe at bedtime. The next option is for the sound. What type of sound do you want to wake up to. All these sounds start out soft and get louder the longer they play. Tap on Save and and now Bedtime is all set to notify you when you should go to bed and wake you up.

Changing Bedtime Settings
To change the time to wake you up and go to bed, you drag the circles or rings. When you do this, you are also changing the amount of sleep as well. Drag the crescent moon to change the amount of sleep you want to get. To change the options such as sound or the day of week you want to use Bedtime, tap on Options in the upper left corner.
