Viewing your Stocks in the Today View

In this lesson for Tutor for the Stocks app on the iPhone, I look at how you can view your stocks you are watching from the Today view in the new Stocks app for the iPhone with iOS 12.

Accessing the Today View
Before we get started, I’ll first go over what the Today view is. With the Today view, we can see what is going on today in one view. As an example, you can see today’s events in your Calendar, you can see what today’s news is in the News app, or you could see how the stocks you are watching in the Stocks app are doing. In addition, you can see how the stocks you are watching are doing through this view.

Accessing the Today View on your iPhone
There are two ways to access the Today view on the iPhone. You can swipe to the right when you are looking at your Notification Center or you can keep swiping to the right when you are looking at your apps on the Home screen.

Adding your Stocks to the Today View
If your Stocks are not showing in the Today view, you will need to add the Stocks widget. To do this, tap on ‘Edit’ at the very bottom of your Today view. This is where you can add, remove, and reorder widgets to your Today view, including the Stocks widget. If it is not on the list at the top of this view, scroll down until you see “Mode Widgets’. Below this is a list of all the widgets which can be added to your Today view. Tap on the green ‘+’ to the left of Stocks to add the Stocks widget. You can also set where the Stocks widget is in the Today view by dragging the three horizontal lines to the left of the widget while in the edit mode. Tap on Done in the upper right corner when you are finished.
