Finding Duplicates

In this lesson for iTunes on the Mac, we look at how to show duplicates in iTunes.

Finding Duplicates
In iTunes, you can find every instance of a song if it is by the same artist. Maybe a song is on an album, and it’s on a soundtrack. To find duplicates, you go to File in the menu bar and select Library. You’ll see an option for Show Duplicate Items. Elect this, and all your duplicate items will show.

Show Exact Duplicate Items
If you want to find exact duplicates, such as if you’ve imported a song twice, then what you do is hold down the option key when you go to File in the menu bar. Now when you go to Library, you’ll see Show Exact Duplicate Items. Now you’ll see a list of items that are exact duplicates. From there you can delete one of them.
