Importing Media via Drag and Drop

In this lesson for iTunes on the Mac, we look at how to import your media into iTunes using Drag and Drop.

Import via Drag and Drop
To import your media files using drag and drop, all you need to do is just drag your media files on top of the iTunes interface. When you do this, iTunes will import the files you selected. When it imports them, it copies them into iTunes if you are using iTunes to manage your library, which is the default setting in iTunes.

Now once you import your media into iTunes, iTunes will determine what type of media it is. As an example, if you import an audiobook, iTunes will look at the file, in most cases an mp3. Being that it is an mp3, iTunes will import this audiobook into your Music library. If you want to change the media Kind, take a look at the Changing Media Kind lesson.
