Viewing Stock News and Information

In this lesson for Tutor for the Stocks app on the Mac, I look at how to view general financial news, news about a specific stock, and how we can see the stock price for the day, how much a stock has gone up or down for the day and the current market cap for the stock in the Stocks app on the Mac.

Viewing General Financial news
To view general financial news, you just select Business News in the left column at the top. When you do this, general financial news will show to the right. Click on any article to read it. To get back to all the news, you can click on the arrow in the toolbar or click on Business News again. All of the news from the News app.

Seeing News about a Specific Stock
To see the news related to a specific stock, you just click on the stock in the sidebar and all the related news will show to the right. Click on any article to read it. When you are viewing the related news to a specific stock, you will also see a chart at the top. This chart represents the stock price during the selected period. To see what period you have selected just look to the top of the chart for the highlighted period. Click on any period to change the view.

Viewing Current Stock Price, Percentage of Gain or Loss, and Market Cap
To view the current stock price, the percentage the stock has gained or lost through the day, or the current market cap, just go to the right of the stock in the sidebar. If the number is red, the stock went down for the day, if it is green it went up for the day. Clicking on the number will change what is shown between stock price, gain or loss, and market cap.
