Shooting with Bokeh

In this lesson for Photography with the Camera app on the iPhone we look at how we can get the bokeh effect without using Portrait mode on the iPhone.

What is Bokeh and how to get this with your iPhone
Bokeh is where the subject is in focus while the backgrounds out of focus. If you have a dual lens camera, you’ll see this when you use portrait mode. We can still get this effect even if we have an iPhone that does not have portrait mode. To get this effect, just bring your iPhone close to your subject, it does have to be relatively close. When you do this, you’ll see in your preview that your background is out of focus. You won’t be able to do this with a person like in portrait mode, as you have to get too close, but this works great for closer photography such as flowers.
