Using Siri to add Reminders

In this lesson for Reminders on the iPhone we look at various ways we can use Siri to add a reminder to the Reminders app on the iPhone.

Adding Reminders through Siri
To add a reminder, all you need to do is tell Siri to remind you. As an example, if you want to add a reminder to buy eggs, you just tell Siri “Remind me to buy some eggs”. When you do not specify a list, Siri will add the reminder to the Default List.

Setting the Default List
As mentioned above, when you use Siri to add a reminder and you do not specify a list, Siri will add that reminder to your default list. To set which list is your default list, you need to go to your Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down or search till you find Reminders in the Settings app. One of the settings for Reminders is the Default List. Just select the list you want to you as your default list.

Adding a Reminder to a Specific List with Siri
To add a reminder to a specific list with Siri,, you just add which list you want to add your reminder to. As an example, I want to add orange juice to my grocery list in the Reminders app. I just ask Siri to “remind me to get orange juice in my groceries list”. Your reminder will be added to the list you specify, in my case, orange juice will be added to my grocery list.

Setting When and Where you want to be Reminded with Siri
If you wan to set when and where you want to be reminded with a Reminder using Siri, just add the date and time or location. As an example you could say “Remind me to get bacon on Wednesday at 9:00 AM” or “Remind me to buy some bread when I get to Family Fare.” – Family Dare being a local grocery store here in West Michigan.

Now being that I did not specify a list, these last two examples will be added to my default list.
