Zooming In and Out

In this lesson for Photography using the Camera app on the iPhone we take a quick look at how zoom works with the Camera app.

iPhone with Dual Lens
With an iPhone that has a dual lens, to zoom in to 2X, you tap on the 1X at the bottom of the preview screen. When you do this, the iPhone will automatically zoom in at a 2X zoom. If you’d like to adjust the zoom further, you’ll see an arc above the 1X/2X. Just swipe back and forth across this arc to adjust your zoom level.

iPhone with Single Lens
To zoom in with an iPhone that has a single lens, you pinch on the display. Pinch to expand to zoom in, pinch in to zoom out. When you do this, you’ll also see a slider across the bottom of the preview screen. Once you see this slider, you can slide the slider to the left and right to change your zoom level.

That’s how we zoom using the camera app on the iPhone.
