Backing Up with Time Machine

In this lesson we cover how to use and access the Time Machine back-up system. Time Machine backs-up all of the data on your computer – photos, documents, videos – to an external hard drive. This is important as hard drives do fail and it’s costly to have a third party recover your lost data and recovery is not guaranteed. Dan demonstrates how connect an external hard drive for back-up – although it is mostly automatic once the external hard drive is connected. We also cover how to access your data by “Entering the Time Machine” and how to restore data and files from previous back-ups. On a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air – this feature is called Time Capsule and the back-up may be done wirelessly.
