Customizing Faces on the Apple Watch

In this lesson for the Apple watch, we take a look at how we customize watch faces on the Apple Watch as well as how we remove and add watch faces to the Apple Watch. We are going to look at how we doing this on the Apple Watch itself. We can also customize, and add and remove watch faces using the Watch app on our iPhone. We’ll look at that in the next lesson.

Selecting the Watch Face to Customize
To customize a watch face on your Apple Watch, we gently push down on the Apple Watch. When we do this, the watch face will shrink and we can then customize, remove, or add a watch face.

Removing a Watch Face
While the current watch face is shrunk, if you swipe to the left our right you can scroll through your current watch faces. You can also use the digital crown to go thorough your watch faces. Once you find the watch face you want to remove, you swipe up and you will be able to remove that watch face.

Adding a New Watch Face
To add a new watch face, you swipe to the left, or turn the digital crown, until you see New with a big ‘+’. Tap on the ‘+’ to add a new watch face. When you tap on this, you’ll be able to select from a number of watch faces by swiping up and down or using the digital crown. Once you find the watch face you want to add, you tap on it and it will add that watch face to your Apple Watch. From there you can customize it.

Customizing a Watch Face
To customize a watch face, such as change the color, second hand, or how the numerals are displayed, you tap on Customize on the bottom after you gently push down on the watch face. Depending on what watch face you are customizing, you are going to have different options. Some watch faces will allow you to change the color of the second hand, while others will change the style of the numerals. The Mickey and Minnie Mouse watch faces will change the color of their outfits.

Changing the Color of a Watch Face
When you are customizing your watch face, you will see a few dots at the top of the Apple Watch display. The number of dots when will vary depending on the watch face you are customizing. The first dot ,when customizing a watch face, is for the color. Depending on the watch face you are customizing, this could change the color of the second hand, numerals, or complications. To change the color, you rotate the digital crown.

Changing the Watch Face Style
The second dot is for the watch face style. You may or may not see this option as some watch faces do not allow you to change the style. If you have this options, this would change the style of the numbers or remove the numbers altogether as an example. To see what styles are available and to change them, you rotate the digital crown.

Changing the Complications
Swipe over to the left to the third dot and you can customize the complications on a watch face. Just tap the complication and then use the digital crown to scroll through all the various complications. Some watch faces will have more complications available than others.
